Thermal includes models from about 2M wingspan through to 3M or 4M wingspan.

These models are launched either with a bungee (catapult) or a winch.

F5J and Electric includes models known as Park Flyers, usually made of foam,

larger built up models that were originally designed for gas engines and the

glider which has an international competition class, F5J

Slope Soaring includes models of 2 or more channels designed to soar on the lift

generated from a slope that faces into the wind.

HLG is a specific class of model designed to be hand launched, these models are

quite high tech in construction which allows low weight and high strength.  The models

are now launched using a "discus" technique which allows launch heights of between 100

and 150 feet.
