Thermal Duration / ALES The Interclub Series is a tournament born to give the opportunity to the pilots of different clubs around the Canadian Eastern provinces to challenge themselves along the year.  The clubs MATS from Montreal, ORCC from Ottawa and C2VM from Montreal South Shore give life to the tournament to date. An average of fifteen pilots meet each other to play on different fields and following different set of rules. The rules are tailored by the hosting club and disclaimed to the pilots at the beginning of each competition. A set of competitions is planned along the season: 2 set to be run following the TD format and 3 following the ALES format. The ALES category has been introduced to the calendar of the Interclub Series in 2012. Altitude Limited Electric Soaring is now possible due to the use of the CAM module INTERCLUB SERIES 2011 ICARE Thermal Duration The Interclub Series tournament was run in a different format before the CAM modules were given to the masses: our pilots were competing on TD rules only. Winch launched gliders were allowed and the task was typically divided in two parts: a first 7 to 10 minutes long duration task followed by a precision landing task. Different scoring methods were in use depending upon the hosting club: MATS and C2VM from Montreal preferred a "F3J" style landing rules while ORCC from Ottawa preferred a "no dorking" style rule. A set of 6 competitions were planned along the season and the best 4 scores counted for the championship. All kind of gliders were allowed, with many of the pilots sporting one of the latest commercial gliders (eXplorers, Sharon, Aspire) or latest generation Drela's designs (Bubble Dancer, Allegro etc.) or derived designs (BarryKuda, SupraKuda).
